We have had so much fun getting to know small business owners across the US that we wanted a way to share even more of their story with you. That's why we created the #BuySmallSaveSmall Stories series! In each new post we'll introduce you to a new business, and get down to details with the owner about what it's like to be a small business owner.
This story is extra special because it is run by a teenager who crafts and sells her own products. Without further ado, meet Teagan K. of Rings and Bling By Teagan!
Teagan, where are you originally from?
I was born in Texas but I currently live in Wisconsin!
What or who inspired you to start Rings and Bling by Teagan?
Honestly I didn’t have very many friends and a LOT of free time.
Where is your business located?
When did your business open?
June 21, 2021
What is/was your flagship product that launched the business?
My ring sets!
Is there a special story or meaning behind this name that you want to share?
Yes there is! So recently my grandpa passed away from lung cancer and he was a really big into bowling and he always got all these rings for winning. So every time we went to visit my grandma my little sister would always get these rings out and play with them, all of a sudden I just really had this thought, like I could really have all these other people fall in love with rings too!
Name three things that make your business or products unique, that people should know.
All of my rings are hyper-allergenic, cruelty free, and are only made by me!
What was the first major milestone that you were excited to reach for your business?
I just got 135 likes on one of my reels!
What is the next major milestone you are working toward for your business?
To make 5 sales!
Do you have any new products or services in the works that you can share with us?
I just launched The Simpsons inspired jewelry!
Does your small business support your local community or communities in other parts of the world? If so, tell us how!
Well actually most of my profits have been donated as offering to my church!
In your own words, why do you think supporting small business is important?
I think it’s very important because every single day we just purchase from these big franchises without really thinking about it some people put a lot more time, effort, and love into their products!
What is one piece of advice you have for anyone interested in starting their own business?
You really have to be excited about your products and proud of them because if you are excited or proud about them nobody else will be!
Aside from your own, what is one of your favorite small businesses to support in your community? What do you love most about their offerings?
@onetidyday (also teen owned) on Instagram and my favorite part is that she sells the cutest planners!
